Here’s a nice article from 2012 and it shows the ten most populated nations (I just got back from another non-medal winner – Nicaragua – where I was on a mission trip helping to build a church – and it is still up this week even after my efforts!) just to remind my audience and the sports imperialists that there are other possibilities. Here’s his conclusion:
There are 204 recognized National Olympic Committees competing biennially in the winter and summer games. But over 425 million people worldwide can say they’ve never seen their country take home a single medal.
Let’s never take for granted our efforts will be rewarded and let’s take back the Olympics from the sports imperialists, the media and the commercialization! We could start something in this regard.
